adidas Originals x Gucci SS23

The ZX 8000 'Aqua' Trainer Gets A Monogram Makeover

The adidas Originals x Gucci SS23 collection features a luxury spin on the legendary ZX 8000 Aqua with tracksuits & trefoil toggery a plenty.

You probably remember back in 2017 when Supreme & Louis Vuitton completely turned the fashion world upside down. The big fashion magazines went mad for this new aesthetic with “luxury streetwear” becoming the talking point on every runway, restaurant & PR office. Luxury streetwear changed the traditional fashion world paving the way for tongue ‘n’ cheek skateboard brands like Palace to link up with Gucci back in October 2022. 2022 also marked the first adidas Originals x Gucci collection. Merging the classic 3 stripes of the Bavarian born sportswear brand with Gucci’s signature GG monogram, premium sportswear has never looked so good.

When Franz Beckenbauer first stepped out on the football pitch in his full adidas tracksuit back in 1973 do you think we’d ever see a Gucci logo on it with a £1000 plus price tag 50 years later? Probably not but here we are. On the apparel side of things for SS23 there’s classic trefoil tracksuits, vintage inspired monogram shorts, v-neck t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, trefoil tees, monogram windbreakers & classic ringer tees straight out of the 1970s.

On the footwear side of things the adidas ZX 8000 Aqua trainer gets a monogram makeover to the toe box for a luxury spin on the legendary ZX line trainer from the late 1980s. The Gazelle also gets the monogram treatment with an all over GG print to the uppers with added GG branding to the gum sole. Just like the previous release there’s also a range of super cool accessories such as a monogram trefoil bucket hat & cap as well as a monogram trefoil bowling bag.

The adidas Originals x Gucci SS23 collection will be dropping from adidas.co.uk over the coming weeks.
