Aquascutum Active is the latest sub-label from the British born heritage brand with a heavy focus on fabrics & technology as well as the classic check stuff.

If you’ve ever experienced walking into a boozer’ charged up like Scarface with Joy Division on the Jukebox and more check caps on show than you thought was actually physically possible then you probably already know what this feature is all about. I could talk about Royal Warrants, multi-million Chinese company takeovers, bankruptcies and IPO’s on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange but all that really has no relevance to what we actually love about Aquascutum. It’s all about that classic check whether you were into Garage & Grime in the early noughties or liked getting mobbed up with your mates in the Masons Arms on matchday. The thing is nothing can really compare to Aquascutum as far as British designer gear goes. Something like the check patterned backbone of modern subculture, Aquascutum has gone through a bit of a renaissance in recent years and this latest Aquascutum Active stuff has all the heritage of the classic check stuff with a modern technical twist.

Aquascutum Active Check

Alongside brands like Stone Island Aquascutum was an original Casual brand from the 1980s. The British born heritage brand saw a massive revival in the early to mid noughties courtesy of films like The Football Factory and a new found admiration for 80s designer gear. Mike Skinner famously wore Aquascutum in the video ‘Fit But You Know It from 2004 bringing with it a certain Geezer-eque of Reebok Workouts & designer denim. After recent takeovers and bankruptcies we all thought that was the end of the beloved British brand with resale values of the classic check going through the roof. A more recent collaboration with Supreme New York showed the world the real street appeal of Aquascutum with its roots already firmly stamped on British street culture from early Sidewinder shows or the second round of the FA Cup at Selhurst Park.

Aquascutum Active Check

So what is Aquascutum Active? Well its a kind of sublabel of the original Aquascutum brand that is more about the fabrics & technology as well as the classic check stuff. Boasting state of the art garment technology like their own Hdryo Fabric & DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coatings for added resistance to water. The Active line also harks back to the brand’s outdoors heritage back in the 1950s which was a far cry from tailored trench coats. Now introduced to mint. the latest Aquascutum Active collection brings back all that check nostalgia we still love about the brand across a range of tees, shorts and full check polo shirts. Outerwear features technical fabrics with functionally at the core & staple sweats incorporate the classic check into the branding.
