The END. x Saucony Shadow 6000 ‘Fried Chicken’ trainer draws inspiration from your local fried chicken shop with finger licking hues.
As far as the “sneaker world” was concerned, 2014 looked a little bit different to what it does now. Resale wasn’t really a thing, neither were raffles & collaborations were literally a once a month kind of thing. 2014 was also the year I first started writing about trainers and weirdly enough the first trainer I actually covered was the END. x Saucony 5000 ‘Burger’ trainer. As much it is a personal memory for me, the design itself was what collaborations were all about. An editorial shot in a diner with a trainer inspired by burger patties, buns, ketchup, gherkins & fries, what more did you really need? Giving a nod to their very first partnership together 8 years ago, Saucony & END. team up once again for another fast foot inspired release for 2022. Introducing the END. x Saucony Shadow 6000 ‘Fried Chicken’ trainer which draws inspiration from your local fried chicken shop with finger licking hues.

By the 1990s Saucony had already earned their stripes on the running world thanks to Rod Dixon and his signature DXN trainer at the New York marathon in 1983. The 1980s also saw other Saucony silhouettes such as the Jazz (1981) the Shadow Original (1985) and the Shadow 5000 from 1989 which all boasted ground breaking trainer tech like TPU heel stabilisers, marshmallow like midsoles & designs that were years ahead of the game. Moving into the 1990s Saucony introduced the Shadow 6000 in 1991. An updated early 90s spin on the original Shadow silhouette from 1985, the Saucony 6000 was geared up for high-mileage runners ditching the TPU heel support for even more of the marshmallow like EVE midsole. With superior shock absorbency, the Saucony Shadow 6000 remains a mainstay on the ever changing sneaker world.

Now introduced as a very special collaboration with END. the early 90s runner is given a fried chicken makeover. With hairy and smooth suede uppers that draw inspiration from the finger licking fast food favourite, the Shadow 6000 is transformed into something Colonel Sanders himself would be proud of. The signature S logo to the sidewalls is reworked in a red chenille fabric with cartoon chicken graphics & collaboration branding to the tongue patch.

Other highlights include fuzzy laces with a red & white striped box giving a nod to the hues typically seen on the packaging from your local fried chicken shop. The END. x Saucony Shadow 6000 ‘Fried Chicken’ trainer will be dropping from END. Clothing on Saturday 22nd October 2022.
