Saucony give their legendary runner a very special tropical makeover with the introduction of the Saucony Shadow 5000 St. Barth which launches for October 2022.
You’ve got to give credit to Sacuony where it’s due. When it comes to “out of the box” colourways they never fail to disappoint. Following on from their recent Fried Chicken release with END. this latest trainer release for October 2022 sees the late 80s runner, the Shadow 5000, get a tropical island makeover. Putting some Caribbean vibes across the classic Shadow silhouette this latest drop might want to make you grab a refreshing cocktail even if you’re not lucky enough to be chilling somewhere in the West Indies.

Saucony took the running world by storm thanks to Rod Dixon and his signature DXN trainer at the New York marathon in 1983. The 1980s also saw other Saucony silhouettes such as the Jazz (1981) the Shadow Original (1985) and the Shadow 5000 from 1989 which all boasted ground breaking trainer tech like TPU heel stabilisers, marshmallow like midsoles & designs that were years ahead of the game. The Shadow 5000 featured an EVA midsole which was updated to further support the unique movement of the foot with the addition of further panelling to the uppers for even more support and stability on foot.

Featuring perforated nubuck leather and suede uppers in a mixture of beige and mint green, the special Saucony release gives a nod to the French-speaking Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy. Other highlights include hints of brown suede to the heel tab and sidewalls with the flag of the Caribbean island to the tongue. Coming in a limited edition box, this latest Saucony release is a must have for fans of the original retro runners of the 1980s.
