The Stone Island 40th Anniversary 82/22 collection celebrates the 40th anniversary of the compass logo with an archive inspired RIPSTOP COVER cape.
Let’s rewind back to 1982 for a second. A Flock of Seagulls “ran so far away” and Rambo found his first blood. As far as subculture & fashion was concerned it was all about sportswear. From the Mafia dons of Manhattan to the Perry Boys of Prestwich, sportswear in the early 80s spread like wildfire from the “five boroughs” to Farnworth. 1982 also marked a seismic shift for sportswear. It was the same year the Godfather of Sportswear would introduce a brand that would take over the piazza’s, the pubs & the precincts like nothing before it. That brand was called Stone Island. It wasn’t just about the compass logo that looked like you were part of some dystopian paramilitary group, it was the colours, the pockets, the designs & the rarity. Fabrics that sounded like something you would order from a posh Italian restaurant. It was completely unique. That early 80s Osti nostalgia is now revived as part of the Stone Island 40th Anniversary 82/22 collection.
Following on from the Spring/Summer 22 40th Anniversary collection which featured a range of Piattina outerwear, the coming of age celebrations continue for Autumn/Winter 22 with an archive inspired MICROFELT WITH RIPSTOP COVER Cape. Drawing inspiration from the original Tella Stella Cape from 1982 the military poncho style silhouette features a lightweight, non-woven fabric composed of compacted nylon fibres which is protected on the outside by a translucent polyurethane cover with a ripstop motif. The inner is made of woollen cloth.
Also included in the very special anniversary release is a field jacket & an anorak which both utilise the same MICROFELT WITH RIPSTOP COVER fabric. The overhead anorak features PrimaLoft® Silver padding which is an exclusive 100% recycled blend. Each style features the signature compass logo & 82/22 graphics throughout.
