The Belstaff Dalesman Smock is revived from the British heritage brands’ archive in celebration of their 100 year anniversary of waxed cotton wares & quality outerwear.
If you’re bang into your outerwear chances are you’ve had a bit of Belstaff knocking about your wardrobe at some point. Founded by Eli Belovitch and Harry Grosberg in Stoke-on-Trent back in the 1920s Belstaff really made its name making motorcycle clothing. A pioneer of waxed cotton wares, the British heritage brand has given us iconic Belstaff silhouettes like the Trialmaster & the Roadmaster to name a few. Worn by everyone from Will Smith to Liam Gallagher, Belstaff prides itself on quality made gear whether its classic waxed cotton stuff or the very cutting edge of contemporary design innovation. 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Belstaff with a celebration of classic silhouettes straight out of their archives. Reviving a range of archive styles like the Belstaff Dalesman Smock which now arrives at mint.
There’s always been something pretty special about a smock. The classic military silhouette was originally worn by RAF engineers back in the 1940s but switched onto the subculture side of things courtesy of the mods with their scooters & shiny Italian shoes back in the 1960s. For a brand that is usually associated with waxed cotton motorcycle jackets, Belstaff also had their own pop at the classic smock with the Dalesman. First introduced back in the 1950s the Dalesman, sounding a bit like something a die hard Rochdale AFC fan would wear, was designed for a range of outdoors activities such as walking, climbing & mountaineering.
Revived from the Belstaff archives as part of their 100 year anniversary collection, the Dalesman boasts all that classic smock charm. Featuring a high-twist cotton fabric for a unique rugged feel the ‘Made in England’ military silhouette now arrives in two colourways; aloe (khaki green) & cloud grey. With a large kangaroo style pocket to the front alongside a drawstring to the middle for the classic smock fit, the Dalesman is probably some of the best Belstaff we’ve seen so far this season.
