There’s no denying that New Balance have been absolutely killing it on the sneaker circuit in recent years. Since that collaboration on the classic 500 basketball silhouette with Aimé Leon Dore back in 2020 New Balance have really been setting the bar as far as trainer releases go. With Aimé Leon Dore’s very own Teddy Santis at the creative helm of the Boston born sportswear brand the next chapter of New Balance has gone down an absolute scream with trainer fans across the world. After recently reviving the 1906 from the running archives which is arguably one of their most talked about silhouettes of late, New Balance now introduce the 1906N Utility M1906 ‘Castlerock’ trainer for Spring 2024.
Originally released back in 2009 the 1906 was, just like previous NB runners’ before it, geared up for running. A very different landscape than the current “sneaker scene”, the 1906 was treated to a revival release back in 2022 courtesy of the Japanese streetwear label thisisneverthat which switched the original sole of the 1906 with the sole of the 860v2. Following a further global re-release last year the 1906 is set to be one of the most talked about silhouettes of 2024.
Putting a utilitarian spin on the late noughties runner, the New Balance 1906N Utility M1906 ‘Castlerock’ trainer is packed full of the very latest trainer tech & design innovation. Boasting ‘N-ergy’ shock absorption technology with an ‘ACTEVA LITE’ midsole and ‘ABZORB SBS’ heel cushioning & stability web technology for increased arch support. The mesh uppers & synthetic overlays allow for added breathability for all day comfort with contrasting pops of lemon throughout.
